Bellagio - It is La Perla del Lago di Como (the Pearl of Lake Como) and Stendhal spoke as "the most beautiful view that exists in the world after the Bay of Naples”, he set here some passages of his novel "La Certosa di Parma” and he described the beauty in his novel titled “Napoli e Firenze: Un viaggio da Milano a Reggio” (Naples and Florence: A journey from Milan to Reggio) in the year 1817. Poets and artists will always have been fascinated from “Plinio il Giovane” (Plinio the Younger) and to name a few, Taine, Longfellow, Twain, Stendhal, Flaubert, Faure, Liszt ...and the famous Padovano poet Ippolito Nievo that had a secret romance relation with Bice Gobio Melzi d 'Eril.
In Bellagio you' ll find the famous "giardini all' inglese di Villa Melzi" (English gardens of Villa Melzi). Within them the house, the chapel and the greenhouse oranges, today stage an historical museum. A wonderful expression of the neoclassical style, declared a national monument. The complex was built between 1808 and 1810 from Francesco Melzi d'Eril.

Poets and artists will always have been fascinated and the famous poet Ippolito Nievo that had a romance relation with the owner of a beautiful villa, that today is the Hotel Suisse and elegant location for a delicious dinner, Toscanini was resting at the shadow of the Hotel Perlo's big linden, located on a hill that dominates the lake.

Free tour offered by Mondo Turistico guides. The tour consists in visiting the romanic Church of San Giacomo, a short walk in Via Garibaldi and then visit to the little beautiful Church of San Giorgio.
