A good italian wine

 
Leaving the shores of Lake Como and entering another famous region of north Italy, Valtellina. World famous for its wine, produced from the huge terraced chessboard sprawled across the landscape.
 
The production of the wine ‘Nebbiolo' (localy named ‘Chiavennasca') and the cultivation of other famous wines: Valtellina Superiore ‘DOCG' con le sottozone ‘Sassella', ‘Grumello', ‘Inferno', ‘Valgella' all of whom have been created by the raspberry smelling , violet and of wet moss.
The chracteristics are very similar in Di caratteristiche molto simili in gioventù, si diversificano, invecchiando, in una serie di delicate sfumature e di fragranti "bouquet" dovuti alla natura morfologica del terreno e all'esposizione dei vigneti.
 
Situated in the heart of the valley, out of pure passion for the business, there are 61 local producers, which eventually became Cantina Cooperativa Villa di Tirano & Bianzone founded in 1961.  
 
The experience and respect of tradition, adding modern technology, allows the ‘Cantina di Villa' to assert itself through various national and international markets. The production is of high quality and is put on the market with the logo "Cantina di Villa", comprising the whole gamete of Valtellina wines,  amongst those selected for special occasions.
 
There are tours of ‘la cantina', also at harvest time (only through reservations)- which gives the opportunity to see first hand the complicated process of wine production in the Valtellina area.
Presenting a wine bar, restaurant only available through reservations, where they serve typical plates from the area such as ‘pizzoccheri', a pasta speciality using large amounts of various cheese. There are guided tours explaining the processes with the grapes and in the vineyards.
 
From next year different selections of grappa will be available
 
The main offices are found at Villa di Tirano- about 25 km from Sondrio, Easily found by using the road sign and taking the ‘Statale' 38 and signs for ‘Alta Valle'
